We Offer a Personalised Curriculum for Every Pupil.

Our Curriculum

At Eagle House School (Sutton), we work within the framework of the National Curriculum, Every Child Matters and the Eagle House Approach to teaching and learning. Our core subjects are:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • ICT
  • PHSE/Citizenship)
  • Humanities
  • Music
  • PE
  • Art Design Technology (ADT)
  • and Social Skills form the corner stone of our curriculum subjects.

We underpin learning with rich experiences and as many hands-on opportunities as possible within a school day both at school and in the wider community through off-site educational visits. The work of class teams is supported by the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Attainment and Achievement

We obtain a baseline for each pupil within their first few weeks with us. For more academically able pupils, we use MidYIS and Yellis annually as baseline assessments.

Our curriculum has a strong vocational and life skills focus. Our aim is to prepare pupils for life beyond Eagle House School. According to their ability and to recognise every pupil's full potential, we offer access to a range of accredited qualifications at Key Stage 4 and beyond. These range from ASDAN Award Scheme and Entry Level through to GCSE and OCR National Qualifications.

ASDAN's Educational Values are:-

  • to provide opportunities for all to achieve
  • to promote personal and social development
  • to celebrate success
  • to promote assessment for learning
  • to support personalised learning

Our curriculum recognises the importance of the 14-19 curriculum reforms and has a strong focus on vocational and community based activities. We also recognise that we are preparing our young people with a firm foundation for life beyond school and participation in broader life activities. This may involve, as an example, simulated work experience (or work opportunities within school) or work-place shadowing in the wider community.

The Eagle House Approach, which is used Group-wide, underpins the approach used by Eagle House School (Sutton).

Our aim is to prepare our young people for life beyond Eagle House School
